How important is religion?
And Hinduïsm in particulair?l Is Amma religious, is She Hindu? Do we need religion in a world full of problems?
Like poverty, illness and sorrow? Not for people who die for their religion… but for people who live the real principles of religion… Spirituality is important for everybody. Religion provides rules. You need certain rules.
When you drive a car… without respect for the rules,
you get accidents. For harmony and order is Dharma necessary. But you ask if religion is necessary… First you need to understand the depths of religion. Boeddha or Christ didn’t create their own religion.
There followers did that. They are the essence of Love themselves. We need to understand that Love.
They showed how to live in Love. They are the example of Love. About Hinduïsm…
Religion itself is as an opinion. Hinduïsm is based on Sanatana Dharma.
That is the essence. The name ‘Hindu’ points to the banks of the river Indus. Sanata Dharma is the deeper essence of how to live your life. Amma lets herself also lead by that. But that’s about the Whole and not one particular stream. But I love religion, that’s for sure.
Something else? There are so many problems in the world… Can religion offer a solution for that if we talk about poverty, sorrow and suffering? The essence of religion is spirituality.
That’s what you need to survive. You learn how to live and how to survive. As you need a job to earn money,
so you need spirituality for the mind. You need to learn how to master the mind. You can build a golden castle,
but you can only sleep when your mind is quiet. That’s why you need to master your mind. That’s spirituality. That is the priciple you see also in all the great saints. So, if you ask if religion is necessary…. The essence of religion is necessary. That is spirituality. Spirituality inside the religion …. Religion don’t need any borders or walls. Nor does Love. Spirituality is as honey and fire.
It is the same everywhere. Peace and Love are the same everywhere. (translation & explanation in English by Amma’s translator) Sanatana Dharma=the eternal laws of the universe. Like gravity, the law of gravity… there are laws for the entire universe. shaping ones life according to the laws of the universe… is Sanatana Dharma. Living according to nature, to the laws of the universe, that’s all. Simple. So, you decide whether you want ot or not.
